This weekend was a family reunion on my Moms side. It was held at the beach house and it was really fun. The weather was AMAZING - upper 80s. I did spend a few minutes laying out in the sun with a bikini on. It was pretty nice to feel the sun on the belly. It was especially nice since I was just with family and so I didn't have to be embarrassed about the size of my melons or the new, larger shape of my thighs! I did NOT allow pictures to be taken of me laying out though. While I've enjoyed logging in the details of my pregnancy -- I'm fairly certain that how I looked in a bikini during this time is not something I will want to reminisce on.
My Mom has 5 sisters and 4 of them were at the reunion. It was interesting to hear everyone else's input on their pregnancies. There were some Aunts who liked being pregnant and some who didn't. We discussed stretch marks and hemorrhoids, swelling and cravings. One of my aunts gave birth to one of my cousins in the month of August (like I will) and she laid out during the summer months leading up to the birth. It was a little disturbing to find out that she was left with a black wrinkly mess of a stomach after the baby was born and her stomach shrunk. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that outcome. With that in mind my hours in the sun without sunblock on the belly will probably be limited from here on out. I'm counting on having enough self image issues after the baby is born -- the last thing I need is a black wrinkly tummy. I guess this is one case where my Moms saying, "tan fat is better that white fat" really doesn't work.

The black, wrinkly thing happened to my friend Lindsey, too. Ick.
