Eric and I took our 4th and final Labor and Delivery Prep class this past Monday. This final class was more about what to do AFTER Labor and Delivery. It covered Mom Care (what to do with a blown out vagina) and Newborn Care (when to call the doctor).
Mom/Vagina Care Topics:
*Ice packs
*Pads
*Hemorrhoids
*Episiotomy Care
*Bleeding
*Cramping
*Stitches
*Sitz Baths, cooling sprays, squirts & ointments
*Sex (big no-no)
*Fertility after birth (high!)
Newborn Care Topics:
*Circumcision care
*Sponge Baths vs. Regular Baths
*Belly Button Care
*Sleep, or lack there of
*Frequency of Poop
*Frequency of Pee
*Soft Spots
*Crying
*Breast Feeding
*Warning signs
*SIDS
Eric told me after the class that he really doesn't want to be responsible for the health and safety of our child until it's at least 2 months old. He said it's all just "too scary". He is, of course, delirious if he thinks that crap is going to fly but it was a VERY cute moment. =) He'll just need to follow my lead. If we can remodel our house together we can care for a newborn together too.
At the end of class we did not get a certificate of completion, which I was personally disappointed about, but we did get cake. LOOOOOOOOOOVE cake. All-in-all I think it was a good experience. We learned a lot and got to ask a lot of important questions!

If they give them to you (maybe they don't have them anymore...it has been 11 years since I had a baby)...you should steal as many as possible...I'm talking about the pads that have ice packs in them! GLORIOUS!!!
